Thank you for using Symptom Detective ("we," "us," or "our"). We are committed to protecting your personal health information and privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle your data.
Your Data Stays With You. Symptom Detective is designed with a "Local-First" architecture. All data you enter into the app—including symptom logs, medication details, and notes—is stored securely on your local device.
We do not operate a cloud database, and we do not have access to your health records, logs, or personal identity.
The app requests access to specific device sensors to provide its core functionality. Here is exactly how we use them:
We use the microphone solely to measure the instantaneous decibel level (volume) of your environment when you create a log. We do not record, save, or transmit any audio. The raw audio data is processed in real-time to generate a number (e.g., "65 dB") and then immediately discarded.
We use your approximate location solely to fetch local weather data (specifically barometric pressure) to help you track pressure-related symptoms. We do not track your location history, and we do not share your location with advertisers.
We request access to your Motion data to fetch your step count for the current hour. This helps identify correlations between your physical activity and your symptoms. This data is read-only.
If you have iCloud enabled on your device, your data may be securely synced across your own Apple devices using Apple's CloudKit. This data is encrypted and managed by Apple. We (the developers) cannot access this data.
Transactions are processed directly by the Apple App Store. We do not process or store your credit card or payment information.
We do not sell, trade, or transfer your personally identifiable information to outside parties. Since we do not collect your data, we have nothing to sell.
